When talking to individuals and organisations, they will inevitably have in mind what they think a ‘good line managerline managersgood line manager’ looks like, and their opinions on what organisations need to do to choose and develop them effectively. Some may even have a ‘wish list’ of the skills and capabilities they would like their line managers to have (although some of these wish lists will lead us to line management utopia and may in fact lead to the downfall of line managers if the chosen individual does not match up to these strong expectations).
