摘要

Pediatric dermatologic disease is commonly encountered and can be the first clinical sign of systemic disease. It is important to have an understanding of dermatology as one may have limited access to a pediatric dermatologist. Disease can range from transient benign skin conditions to genetic skin disorders with high morbidity and mortality. Understanding lesional morphology can help to narrow clinical diagnoses and lead to appropriate treatment. The following is an overview of commonly encountered pediatric skin disorders ranging from cutaneous manifestations in the newborn to infectious skin conditions, drug reactions, and genodermatoses. We hope this summary will help you to recognize and manage dermatologic skin findings in children for both your pediatric boards and future patients.
