摘要

This chapter focuses on routine health care and well visits, early detection, and prevention of diseases in children, for example, the prevention of poisoning, drowning, and sunburn. Well-Child visits include collecting a focused history, listening attentively to any parental concern and taking it seriously, performing a thorough physical examination, and following all the health screening tools recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Bright Futures Guidelines. Well-Child visits can detect health issues such as failure to thrive, short stature, hypertension, depression, developmental delay, autism, intellectual disability, microcephaly, macrocephaly, craniosynostosis, hearing loss, and refraction disorders.
