Determination of the Extremal Measure

The chapter deals with the problem how to determine the (weighted) equilibrium measure and its support. Various classical procedures from Fourier theory and the theory of integral equations are applied. An essential feature is the determination of the support of the extremal measure; criteria are given that guarantee if a point lies in the support or not. The equilibrium measure and its potential is explicitly determined for exponential and power type weights.
