摘要

Global environmental problems concerning soil and fertility contamination have grown in recent decades. The primary issues are connected to environmental degradation, food production, and public health because many of the toxins encountered in the soil, such as antibiotic residues, heavy metals, pesticides, and antibiotic resistance genes, are taken up through the plant and penetrate the food supply. Remediation of polluted soil is immediately required to ensure viable crop production. The remediation procedure may benefit from the usage of biochar. Numerous studies have shown that biochar can diminish or inhibit the polluting influences. This chapter aims to undertake an in-depth analysis of the impact of biochar use on the accessibility of such pollutants toward the soil or food distribution chain.
