Recent Advances in Degradation of Textile Dyes in Wastewater Under UV Visible Wavelength by Nanocomposite: A Review

Water is one of the most important elements for life on Earth. The main cause of water contamination is the industrial development. Dyes are the most important part of textile industry that are used as coloring substance and are toxic to human health and animals. The present review summarized the literature review of dye degradation by using nanocomposite of different metal oxides under different range of UV/visible wavelength. This paper also provides a comparison between metal oxide and metal oxide nanocomposites to explore its role in elimination efficiency. It is concluded that degradation efficiency of metal oxide nanocomposite is better than metal oxide nanoparticles. The efficiency range of metal oxide nanocomposites is mostly between 95% and 99.5%, whereas the range of metal oxide nanoparticles is mainly between 80% and 85%. The degradation of dyes takes place in range of UV/visible wavelength. The effect of environmental factors such as pH is also studied and suggested that the degradation efficiency of dyes increases as the pH increases. Therefore, it is concluded that some dyes degraded well in acidic pH, while some are at alkaline pH. This paper suggests that the use of nanocomposite metal oxides is an efficient way to remove textile dyes from textile effluents.
