Concluding (and Reopening) Remarks

  • Paolo Babbiotti

摘要

In this final chapter I reflect on the fact that a new degree of culture, or style, was achieved by both Stanley Cavell and Bernard Williams. These perfectionists friends, with their idiomatic style, revolutionized “the entire system of philosophy contemporary to them”, thus becoming “representative men”, i.e., models—or rather, different exemplars of Emersonian perfectionism—for anyone who would like to undertake the attempt to find one’s own style in philosophy.
