The Mass of Neutrinos

In the SM neutrino masses are taken to be equal to zero, but there are no fundamental principles (like gauge invariance in the case of photons and gluons) requiring that neutrinos are massless. A still unsolved consequence of the neutrino having mass is how to extend the SM to include massive neutrinos.
