Molecules of “lasing medium” can be energised into higher energy states; these molecules are then stimulated to release energy in the form of light, which can be amplified and emitted as radiation. This light has a specific wavelength which is dependent on the lasing medium. This is useful in medicine and other areas as the light is more powerful than normal light and can be applied with utmost precision. The interaction of the light with different tissues has therapeutic effects.
