IoT in Daily Life: Investigating the Impact of IoT on Procrastination, Well-Being, Mental Health, and Healthcare Wizards

This research explores the relationship between Internet of Things (IoT) usage, procrastination, and subjective well-being among adults. The aim is to investigate how the patterns of IoT usage influence procrastination tendencies and impact the overall subjective well-being of the adult population. The study involves a sample of 100 participants from the Indian population, focusing on gender diversity. The research employs a correlational analysis using Pearson's product-moment correlation to examine the associations between IoT usage, procrastination, and subjective well-being. Methodology: The research utilizes three established scales: the Procrastination Scale (AAS) by Lay (1986), the Social Networking Usage Scale by Liyaqat Bashir and Savita Gupta (2018), and The Subjective Well-being Inventory by Dr. H Sell and Dr. R Nagpal (1992). A total of 100 individuals, encompassing various genders, are included in the study through a random convenience sampling method. Participants, meeting specific inclusion criteria, respond to questionnaires administered via phone and face-to-face interactions. The data collected undergoes analysis, incorporating descriptive statistics and correlational analyses. Findings: The study reveals significant findings indicating a positive correlation between higher IoT usage and increased procrastination among adults. Additionally, a negative impact of IoT usage on subjective well-being is observed, suggesting that excessive engagement with IoT technologies may contribute to lower levels of overall life satisfaction. The findings validate hypotheses asserting that higher IoT usage leads to more procrastination, higher IoT usage leads to lower subjective well-being, and greater procrastination leads to lower subjective well-being among adults. Limitations: The research acknowledges limitations, including a relatively small sample size and the restriction to a specific demographic (young adults in India). The study also utilizes self-report scales, introducing the possibility of social desirability bias. Future research should address these limitations, expanding sample diversity and exploring the impact of specific IoT devices on procrastination and well-being. This research contributes to the understanding of the psychological implications of IoT adoption, emphasizing the need for a balanced and mindful approach to technology use. The findings prompt considerations for digital well-being interventions, educational programs, and ethical policies to ensure a harmonious integration of IoT technologies into the lives of individuals while safeguarding their mental health.
