Though it is universally recognised among contributors to the discussion that the aporiai are precisely that, few treat them as perplexing, humbling statements intended to wipe the slate clean to open up for new fresh thoughts in the direction of gaining new knowledge. Previous contributions can roughly be positioned on a scale ranging from those who fully accept the aporiai as they stand, aiming to resolve them on that premise, to those who reject them entirely, treating them as pure nonsense, satisfied to move on to the analysis of Aristotle’s following positive account of time. Such a disparity of opinion begs the question as to what the nature of an aporia is and in particular the ones in Physics IV.10.
