Study of Fatigue Life of Structures Obtained by 3D Printing Subjected to Rotating Fatigue Test

Many studies have consistently highlighted the influence of printing parameters on the mechanical properties of FDM-printed polymer components as they play a significant role in the mechanical performance of these parts. This paper is focused on experimental investigations using a rotating fatigue testing methodology. In order to determine the effect of 3D printing parameters, including infill pattern, infill density, and pattern orientation, impact the fatigue characteristics of test specimens subjected to rotating bending fatigue tests. This paper outlines the utilization of a design of experiments approach to not only evaluate the significance of these printing parameters and their interactions, but also to establish regression equations giving fatigue life as a function of the 3D printing parameters.
