Elegia tectorum (L. f.) Moline & H. P. Linder

Elegia tectorum, commonly known as the Cape thatching reed, is located in the fynbos regions of the Western Cape and the marshes of Western and Eastern Cape. Though no medicinal properties have been reported, E. tectorum is used for thatching roofs and weaving baskets and brooms. Previous studies have suggested that Elegia tectorum may possess anti-elastase properties and could be used as a potential anti-aging application when administered topically; however, further research is required.
