Human Mountainscapes: Changing Identities in Space and Time

  • Christoph Stadel

摘要

Mountainscapes are characterized by a diversity of locational, geomorphological, and ecological characteristics. The broad spectrum of mountain regions is further enhanced by a variety of cultural, economic, social, and political parameters. The result of this segmentation of mountain landscapes and, at least in some remote parts, relatively isolated niches have contributed to the development and preservation of identities of mountain people. It might be argued that most mountainscapes are today a special geographical variant of national or even global spaces, with strong linkages to national or international core regions.
