Process designProcess design consists of activities related to cost optimum and safe design of a process to convert a feedstock into a valuable product by transforming the physical or chemical or both properties of the feedstock. It is a pre-requisite to mechanical design of equipment. Design data are available in form of graphs, tables and correlations. Design requires optimisation of cost. With increased computational power and freeware such as spreadsheet and equation solvers available, the design calculations can be performed easily. Correlations, linear, non-linear and differential equations can be solved with ease.
