Infection Models for Human Pathogenic Fungi

Infection models are necessary tools to dissect the processes leading to pathogenesis, to identify fungal and host factors that contribute to disease or resistance, and to test the efficacy of antifungal compounds and adjunctive therapies. This chapter aims to provide an overview of the most commonly used infection models, their respective advantages and disadvantages, and the context in which they have been employed in the research of human fungal pathogens.
