Transdermal Application of Nanoparticles for Targeting Lymphatic System
摘要
Transdermal route of administration provides a versatile and efficient approach for the delivery of various drug categories. Transdermal drug delivery through nanocarriers provides additional benefits of enhanced permeation, improved biodistribution and targeted drug delivery. Lymphatic targeting through transdermal administration of nanoparticles explores multifaceted applications in the field of biomedicine. Nanotechnology is emerged as the key strategy to enhance the lymphatic uptake of drugs. Lymphatic targeting of nanoparticles through transdermal administration is useful to treat various pathological conditions, such as cancer, viral infections and lymphatic filariasis. Lymphatic targeting of nanoparticles also explores the area of biosensing and bioimaging for the diagnosis of various disease conditions. Various contrast agents are also efficiently delivered to the lymphatic system to detect various types of lymphatic and associated tumours. This chapter is the comprehensive literature providing special emphasis on lymphatic targeting through nanoplatform-mediated drug delivery using the transdermal route of administration.
