The Impact of Google Search Volume Index (SVI) on Stock Returns of Taiwan AI Supply Chain Stocks

This study aims to explore the impact of Google Search Volume Index (SVI) on the stock returns of Taiwan’s AI supply chain stocks. Google Search trend (Google treads) data, through SVI data generated by keyword searches, are used as proxy variables for natural person (retail) investors’ attention to the Taiwan stock market. AI supply chain stocks are used as research samples, and at the same time, according to supply Chain type, the sample is divided into upstream supply chain chip manufacturing companies, key component manufacturing companies and midstream supply chain server component manufacturing companies, and the impact of SVI on stock returns and stock trading volume is analyzed. The empirical results show that the SVI index has a significant impact on company stocks returns, stock trading volume, and stock volume abnormal rate of change.
