A PFCP Protocol Fuzz Testing Framework Integrating Data Mutation Strategies and State Transition Algorithms

Various standardization organizations have formulated security mechanism designs in the field of 5G security. However, there is a lack of security analysis and testing. This article provides an in-depth analysis of the Packet Forwarding Control Protocol (PFCP) in the 5G core network. It proposes an innovative fuzz testing framework that combines existing network protocol fuzz testing methods and designs mutation strategies and state transition algorithms based on the field characteristics of the PFCP protocol to achieve comprehensive coverage testing of the PFCP protocol. By deploying the tool in the free5GC open-source environment and comparing it to a traditional exhaustive algorithm, the efficiency improvement is about 2^300 times.
