Introductory to Medical Entomology
摘要
In this chapter, we discuss medical entomology in a very simplified way that suits medical students without unnecessary details, not crucial for the practice of medicine. This chapter includes the following: an introduction to defining the biology, development, methods of control, and classification of the medically important arthropods. Arthropods could act as vectors transmitting human pathogens (parasites, bacteria, and viruses) from one host to another or from animals to humans. The mechanism of transmission is defined for each vector. Additionally, the different and recent methods of controlling the arthropods are addressed.
