Findings in the Colon
摘要
Colonic cleansing is not routine for small bowel video capsule endoscopy (SBCE), and the capsule usually is not propelled beyond the hepatic flexure, so colonic viewing is not optimal. Nevertheless, longer battery times, improved illumination, and increasing use of bowel preparation before SBCE can provide relevant colonic findings. Dedicated colon capsule endoscopy is applied in screening for polyps and cancer, while panenteric capsule endoscopy (PCE) is used for inflammatory diseases and bleeding. This chapter describes normal aspects of the colon at capsule endoscopy, variants of normal, typical, incidental, and rare findings in the colon as seen by capsule endoscopy.
