Chronic enteropathy associated with SLCO2A1 gene (CEAS) is an enteropathy characterized by persistent anaemia and hypoproteinemia occurring in childhood or adolescence. Before identification of the SLCO2A1 gene in 2015, encoding a prostaglandin transporter, CAES, was advocated as an established disease entity as CNSU (chronic non-specific multiple ulcer of the small intestine) in the 1960s. Lesions are most common in the middle or lower ileum typically as multiple, sharply marginated, circular, or oblique ulcers, involving mucosa or submucosa. Strictures may cause capsule retention.
