Introduction

This chapter begins by chronicling the Disappeared families’ journeys, in order to understand their experiences. By situating the experience of some of the Disappeared family members, it sets the scene for the remainder of the book. The chapter outlines the objectives of the volume and explains its focus on victims’ voices and how this forms the basis for the chapters to come.
