T2W MRI: The Master Sequence
摘要
The T2W sequence is the master sequence when parameters are optimized. It requires a long acquisition time. The best criterion of a good signal resolution is the differentiation of white matter versus grey matter on a coronal T2W image. The T2W sequence may be enough is some circumstances, for instance when it reveals a well-limited intrasellar hypointense area in case of suspected prolactinoma confirmed by the presence of corresponding symptoms and corresponding prolactin level. T2W MRI is the only one able to detect the characteristic T2W hypointense nodules of Rathke cleft cysts. The morphology of the pituitary stalk is more precisely evaluated on T2WIs than on enhanced T1WIs.
