Pitfalls and Traps

Partial volume effects are cleared with volume acquisition. Magnetic susceptibility artifacts are resolved by changing the bandwidth or with FLAIR. Chemical shift artefacts are eliminated by a fat saturation sequence which is mandatory on axial T1W to eliminate the shadow of the dorsum sellae when vasopressin storage is questioned. Flow artifacts from circulating blood or from the CSF are reduced on a 3D FLAIR sequence.
