摘要

Children and adolescents with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at heightened risk for mental health concerns and quality-of-life impairments. This chapter reviews emotional, behavioral, and neurocognitive concerns that may arise among youth with CKD and their prevalence, symptoms, and treatment. Risk factors for mental health concerns are detailed, as well as the resilience factors that can support positive coping in the face of adversity. The importance of prevention and early intervention in addition to the value of multidisciplinary care is emphasized. A variety of assessment tools are reviewed to support early screening, followed by recommendations for interventions targeting a range of child mental health concerns.
