摘要

This chapter offers a much-needed insight into the lived experiences of patients and caregivers directly impacted by kidney disease. People rush through life until the inexplicable happens. The stories presented in this chapter show the harsh reality, but also the resilience and unbridled optimism of patients and caregivers navigating kidney disease from its early stages to its long-lasting consequences. The stories are a call for action. The chapter draws attention to the patient’s and caregivers’ desire to be heard, educated, and supported as a reminder to the medical community to keep their perspective present and provide holistic care. The chapter concludes with a reminder that our collective efforts can improve the lives of others and that things do get better.
