Studies Concerning the Fiber Orientation in Thin Walled, Injection-Molded PP Plaques
摘要
The article deals with dominant fiber orientation in thin plaques that occur perpendicular to the injection direction. This is in contradiction to theory and numerous empirical investigations, in which a preferred direction occurs parallel to the injection direction. The results are even more noteworthy as a standard polymer, a short glass fiber reinforced polypropylene (PP GF20) and a simple tool geometry for test plaques (based on DIN EN ISO 20753:2019–02 TYPE D1) were used. The investigations presented were carried out as a part of a research master’s degree at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and aim to provide an explanation for the observed material behavior.
