Introduction

Schizophrenia and treatment-resistant schizophrenia (TRS) represent chronic mental health disorders associated with higher vulnerability, stigma, burden, and suicidality for individuals and their families. So it was very important for us, as mental health professionals, to publish a book that focuses on schizophrenia and TRS. These disorders deserve our attention, dedication, and willingness to conduct research protocols on the effectiveness and efficacy of evidence-based interventions as well as to implement interventions based on the evidence of these individuals and ultimately, they deserve our capability to make an appropriate diagnosis as soon as possible. All this must be done in a transparent and professional manner.
