Regulatory Technology, Food Traceability and Blockchain

Food regulation builds upon the concepts of coexistence, right to know, and precautionary principle. The new option of “Regulatory Technology” through emerging technologies based for example on distributed ledgers such as blockchain, foreshadows new organisational and regulatory models for more effective management of traceability systems within the food supply chain. RegTech through technologies such as blockchain can also be applied to GM food, bringing significant structural and substantial advantages.
