Implementation of Mutually Exclusive Pedestrian Accessibility Zones of the Metro on the Example of a Megalopolis

The article presents a novel method for assessing pedestrian accessibility zones around metro stations through the integration of isochrones and Voronoi polygons. The proposed method unfolds in four main stages: constructing isochrones, creating Voronoi polygons, adjusting isochrones to fit within Voronoi boundaries, and merging trimmed and remaining isochrones. Conducted experimental research utilizing the Moscow metro system as a case study validates the method’s effectiveness. It outperforms traditional buffer zone approaches by offering improved explanatory capability and reduced prediction errors. The paper also explores how this method can be further improved by tailoring it to the unique characteristics of various metro stations. Implementing this advanced method for determining the influence zones of metro stations promises to significantly improve urban planning and transport management accuracy.
