Biologically Active Compounds from Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Their Applications in Agriculture

Biologically active or bioactive compounds are natural products derived mainly from plant sources that significantly impact living organisms such as humans, animals, or microorganisms. The role of plant-derived phytochemicals on human and animal health as nutraceuticals and therapeutic agents is well studied. Plant-derived bioactive compounds are also important components of sustainable agriculture and have diverse benefits as biostimulants, insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides. This chapter discusses the different applications of biologically active compounds from medicinal and aromatic plants in agriculture.
