Workers Assignment Optimization in Restricted-Cycle Model with Multiple Periods
摘要
It is possible that workers’ errors, variation of operating times, lack of parts and machine failures will affect the delivery date of each production stage. The consecutive delay in the stage can lead to the postponing of manufacturing production. In this chapter, we discuss the development of assembly line balancing models, particularly the restricted-cycle model with multiple periods focusing on the distinction between reset model and non-reset model. Further, in the reset model, we discuss the evolution of worker assignment strategies and address the optimal assignment problem in serial production lines. This chapter underscores the importance of strategic worker assignment and process scheduling in enhancing production efficiency and meeting stringent delivery and cost objectives.
