A Simple Railway Traction Simulator for Comparing Performances of Metropolitan Railway Vehicles

摘要

The scheduling of operational tasks related to rail and metropolitan vehicles can be defined by the knowledge of the driving speed profile. Furthermore, the driving speed profile is employable for analyzing the performance and energy of railway vehicles on specific paths, allowing the evaluation of possible waste of time in transport operations or excess electricity costs during a single run. A simple Railway Traction Simulator, developed in the MATLAB environment, for analyzing the performance and energy consumption of different railway vehicles is presented in this work. Specifically, a comparison between the two rail vehicles used for the Naples (Italy) metropolitan system is proposed.
