Advancements in Confocal and Array Detection Microscopy

An optical microscope holds immense importance across various disciplines, including life science, medical science, material science, and nanotechnology, among others. Its primary advantage lies in its ability to non-invasively image in the far field, enabling the imaging of biological samples with minimal sample preparation. In this chapter, we provide a concise introduction to optical microscopes, including widefield and point scanning microscopes. Additionally, we delve into array detection microscopy techniques such as image scanning microscopy and image subtraction microscopy, alongside the confocal microscope.
