Glamour Returns: Images, Heroics, Dolls, but Far from an Ending

  • E. Allen Driggers

摘要

This chapter, which concludes the book, is far from the end of the story. Women working in geology continued to be profiled in newspapers into the present day. Women’s toys like Barbie reflected women working in STEM fields like geology. The concept of the “Oilwoman,” which had been discussed throughout the twentieth century and in oil trade presses, continued to endure, as new petroleum trade press publications utilized the concept for a magazine for women working in the oil industry. This chapter explores how the concepts of glamour and the oil women endure in the identity and our cultural imaginations of working women geologists.
