Multiple-access technique is an effective means for achieving high-speed and high-capacity communications. The multiplexing methods suitable for VLC can be classified into two categories based on their physical nature: optical and electrical. This chapter introduces three major optical multiplexing technologies: WDM (wavelength division multiplexing), SDM (space division multiplexing), and PDM (polarization division multiplexing). For TDM (time division multiplexing) and CDM (code division multiplexing) of electrical nature, the methods for how to process the optical signal for realization of optical multiplexing are given. Finally, the OMLM (optical multilevel modulation) scheme of optical multiplexing by using modulation technique is also introduced.
