The study aims to provide new insights regarding the role of Internet use for the wellbeing of older people in Italy, taking into account the different activities performed and potential differences according to the living arrangements of older people and their gender. Data come from the survey “Aspects of Daily Life”, conducted by the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) in 2021. Results of multinomial logistic regression models suggest that both for older men and women, and independently from the living arrangement, the use of Internet can have a role for the life satisfaction, but Internet use presents associations with life satisfaction that are differentiated according to the type of activities performed using Internet, and according to gender and living arrangement. In particular, men living alone seem to benefit from calls and video-calls, instead, men living with others have higher life satisfaction if they use Internet for texting. For women living alone there are not significant associations between life satisfaction and activities performed using Internet use; however, women living with others present a positive relationship between high levels of life satisfaction and video-calls.

摘要
