Maintenance and Care of Implant-Retained Overdenture (IROD) and Implant-Supported Overdentures (ISOD)

After successful implant placement and denture fabrication procedures, one of the most important factors for long-term success is the maintenance and care of implant-retained and implant-supported overdentures. Since the forces generated by the overdentures in function and the constant plaque accumulation put the overdenture’s success at risk, the soft tissue contours and the attachment system design must allow for easy and thorough maintenance of the prosthesis. In the sixth chapter of this book, maintenance procedures of implants, abutments, bar, stud, telescopic and magnetic attachments, the proper use of physical and chemical cleaning methods, and implant and denture maintenance program for the patients were discussed thoroughly.
