Assessment of Natural Resource Potential of Territories for Solid Waste Management Facilities Construction

Development of an integrated waste management system implies reconstruction of existing and construction of new facilities for treatment, utilization and neutralization of waste and disposal of non-utilizable fractions. It is impossible to ensure uninterrupted operation of solid municipal waste (SMW) management without construction of SMW management facilities. The purpose of this research is to study the construction of SMW management facilities. SMW landfills are considered to be complex natural and technical systems. The evaluation criteria of technological and ecological solutions on waste management measures realization are developed for objects at the investment stage of life cycle. The comparative assessment of geo-ecological, technical-economic and operational parameters of SMW disposal facility construction is carried out by developing four variants of technical and technological solutions for a reference landfill with disposal capacity up to 30 thousand tons per year with a storage area of 3 ha. The most significant geo-ecological parameters providing a comprehensive assessment of landfill design and construction were identified and validated: operation period; capacity; landfill capacity, landfill capacity for compacted waste.
