The Concept for Recycling Waste from Multi-Apartment Residential Buildings

The article analyzes the problem of waste disposal from multi-apartment residential buildings using the example of global and domestic Russian practice. Graphs of waste generation and management in various countries of the world are presented. The article examines current data on the volume of waste disposal at landfills in the Russian Federation and analyzes the dynamics of accumulation of production and consumption waste over the past decade. The authors of the article are developing a concept for recycling organic waste from apartment buildings at the place of their generation. A scheme for fermentation of waste to produce biomethane and a humus-like product is considered. The economic efficiency of introducing fermentation plants for a mixture of waste from apartment buildings has been assessed. A scheme for joint waste processing has been developed. The composition of the substrate from food waste and domestic wastewater sludge is given. It is concluded that there is a synergistic effect from the introduction of a waste recycling scheme.
