Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue Dye Using H2O2 on Ceramic Membrane Supported by Vanadium-Containing Layer

This article focuses on the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye over ceramic membrane based on α-Al2O3 with a vanadium-containing layer, using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizer. The V2O5 catalytic layer was applied to the external surface of the ceramic membrane using the sol–gel method. The applied layer was subjected to thermal treatment at 700 °C, and their structure and morphology were analyzed. The supported vanadium layer was characterized using XRD, ASAP, and oxidimetric titration methods. The process of catalytic degradation of methylene blue was studied using different masses of the V2O5 catalyst applied to the membrane surfaces, and the reaction rate constant was calculated. The results show that the mass of the catalyst applied has a positive effect on the catalytic degradation of methylene blue.
