Research and Analysis of Energy Dissipation in Spiral Channel Shaft
摘要
This research focuses on a spiral channel shaft as an example of an efficient flow energy dissipation setup for water disposal sys-tems. The energy dissipation mechanism in the shaft combines several features like the use of friction losses due to water flowing over the spiral channel and the drop of the flow into the water cushion in the tail race. The hydrodynamic properties of the flow are analyzed with computer modeling. The numerical model-ing of the two-phase gas and fluid flow in the spiral channel shaft used the Euler-Euler multiphase flow model and the k-ε turbu-lence model in the ANSYS FLUENT software. To assess the modeling quality, the authors developed a scaled laboratory setup of a drop shaft. The model and laboratory experiments confirm the efficiency of energy dissipation.
