Research on the Self-healing of Biota in Natural Ecosystems Disturbed by Mining Enterprises

This article presents data from a study regarding the influence of stone mining processes built upon granodiorite fine earth deposits on the natural restoration of vegetation. Throughout the process of conducting field research, a pattern was found regarding the distance of the transfer of seeds of primary phytocenoses from primary phytocenoses of a natural forest. The successive series of of nodal phytocenoses self-regeneration on juvenile surfaces upon new technogenic formations are largely determined by the intensity of soil formation due to the dry plant mass of herbaceous plants. Our studies show that natural restoration of soil and vegetation coverage occurs more intensively in the presence of a developed plant community found near man-made constructions. The mine’s surface and surrounding areas are partially and unevenly covered with vegetation, in contrast to other observations made throughout the study. Based on the results of this study, the reclamation of lands disturbed by mining should be carried out with consideration for the natural restoration of the native and technical environment.
