摘要

This chapter explores two iconic legal dramas of the 1980s, Anillos de oro/Wedding Rings (1983) and Turno de oficio/Duty Lawyers (1986), when law played a significant role in the societal development of a new democracy. Both shows represent the role of lawyers in the democratisation process, teaching their viewers the freedoms of a liberal democracy while also representing the unique obligation that lawyers had to defend individual rights. Although female lawyers, with public power, often become personifications of progress, their professionalism and capability are still questioned. The protagonists embody social change and teach democratic values through narratives of professional and private lives.
