摘要

A very compact and a low operation cost microwave ECR ion source is being constructed for the ion injector line in the multi-purpose low-energy, ELASR storage ring facility at the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The compact ECR ion source can deliver single-charge ions with an energy up to 50 keV and a beam current up to 50 µA. The plasma in the ECR chamber is driven with a simple transmitter antenna, which makes the overall size of ion source relatively small. Due to the reduction of the ion source size and type of the required microwave power which allows the source to be operated without high-voltage platform, the overall cost of the system is significantly minimized. In this contribution, the mechanical design, modeling of the ECR ion source will be introduced. The simulation of the ion beam from the ECR through the LEBT injector line will presented.
