Unveiling the Dynamics of Consumer Switching Behavior in Drone-Aided E-commerce Delivery

  • Mutlaq B. Aldajani

摘要

Drone technology is transforming the e-commerce landscape, from the shipping of supplies to the delivery of consumer goods. Few studies have focused on the trade-off decision-making process for switching to drone delivery in terms of expected losses and gains. Based on relevant research on switching behavior, the main purpose of the paper is to investigate the factors that influence the switching behavior of online shoppers toward drone delivery. This includes examining proposed drone delivery switching behavior models, including enablers and inhibitors. The literature review includes factor identification, formulation of hypotheses, and exploration of the relationship between these factors and the intention to favor drone delivery services. Empirical data was collected through the survey to validate the fit of our proposed model using a variety of techniques. The results demonstrated a considerable influence of expected losses and gains, notably in switching behavior, on the adoption of drone technology in the context of E-commerce. The implications of this study are expected to be of great relevance to the theory and practice of drone technology, and e-commerce logistics in terms of creating plans, benchmarks, and performance evaluations.
