Opening, Part I

摘要

This opening chapter illustrates how complex problems of reality often need to be addressed from many different perspectives, where science, arts, and intuition all belong to sources of inspiration and tools for problem-solving. How analytical and intuitive thinking can be connected is addressed by observing how we think and feel. The ocean is a source for analysis of the human condition in all its complexity. The need to think again and balance scientific and humanistic values increases today with the many complex problems that society needs to solve. We will use marine science and poetry, dreams, and imagery tools for inspiration here. The ocean is a strong symbol of our inner unconscious. The sea, as the arts, can awaken inspiration, feelings, and memories, remind us of what is important in our lives, and open the possibilities for behavior change.
