Genetics of Iris Color

  • Kambiz Thomas Moazed

摘要

The complexity of eye color inheritance is well-documented in the literature. The multifactorial nature of this trait, involving various genes and processes such as melanogenesis, highlights the intricate interplay of genetic and molecular factors. Unlike Mendelian traits with straightforward inheritance patterns, eye color exhibits a more intricate genetic landscape. Recent studies delving into the molecular and cellular aspects of iris anatomy contribute significantly to our understanding of the complex mechanisms underlying eye color determination. Certainly, the disruption of intracellular trafficking pathways is a common theme in various pigmentary disorders. Beyond their impact on melanocytes and melanin production, these disorders often influence fundamental cellular processes by interfering with organelle biogenesis. Understanding the intricate details of these disruptions is crucial for unraveling the underlying pathophysiology and developing targeted interventions.
