Lipid profile changes typical for pregnancyPregnancy include variations in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterolHigh-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels, but also structural and functional modifications of these lipoprotein particles, which altogether can be defined as HDL-ome changes. Although a full range of HDL-ome alterationsHDL-ome is still undiscovered, there is a lot of evidenceEvidence indicating significant differences of HDL composition and function between healthy pregnanciesHealthy pregnancy and pregnanciesPregnancy with complications. Moreover, it has been shown that HDL-ome changes can impact pregnancy outcomePregnancy outcomes, but also maternal and child healthChild health in later life.
